BUCS II upset by Seminoles 24 - 14
The Bucs met a tough opponent on Saturday night. The Seminoles came out firing, scoring on the opening kick off. They Bucs fought back, but the Seminoles found their way to the end zone again, late in the second quarter. The Bucs dusted themselves off at half time and began to drive the ball. Scoring twice more and converting both extra-points, while allowing only 6 points to the Seminoles, bringing the fourth quarter score to 18-14. The Bucs worked hard but the Seminoles running back found his way to the end zone on a broken play to bring the final score to 24-14.

The Bucs know that "Today is the first day of the rest of their season". Coach Cleon said on Sunday that we are going to work hard this week and we will be ready for the Seahawks.

Stats for the game will be posted in the next few days.

Slidell High Graduate & former SYFA player MATT FORTE' expects big year at Tulane

NEW ORLEANS, La.-Tulane University football standout Matt Forte was recognized as one of the nation's premier players as the senior from Slidell, La., was named to the 2007 Doak Walker Award Watch List, the Guaranty Bank SMU Athletics Forum announced Tuesday.

The Doak Walker Award is presented annually to the top running back among NCAA Division I-A teams, and Forte becomes the second Tulane player to be named to the watch list in the last five years, joining 2003 honoree and current Minnesota Viking ball-carrier Mewelde Moore.

Forte has run for 2,138 yards and 16 touchdowns while hauling in 71 passes for 703 yards and an additional five scores. Entering his senior season in 2007, Forte already ranks seventh all-time in the Tulane career record books in rushing yards and is just 15 yards behind Marvin Christian (1977-79) for sixth place in team history.

Forte's career 69.0 yards-per-game average already ranks fifth in Tulane history, he sits sixth in career 100-yard games (six), he is eighth in yards per carry (4.5) and 10th in rushing touchdowns.
